It seems like a long time ago that we were preparing to start working with our next short video clip. As we move into remote learning, be sure to check out Google Classroom and our extra resources page. I will be posting videos to this playlist for students to watch. (I must admit, I'm pretty happy about my hand-washing song!!) I am also hoping to be able to set up some live classes when we determine the best platform for that. Wishing everyone health and sanity right now!

Reading was the focus of our activities for the past several months, and we will return to text after working with a couple of fun animated shorts. The first, which we will begin next week, is one of my favorites. Be prepared to hear a summary of the plot in French soon!

We are wrapping up our discussions about the Disney animated short Feast. The unit ended with a big focus on literacy. Students are working to increase their understanding between written and spoken French.
Next up-the story of a boy who just can't seem to get his act together on the golf course.

Our study of families from around the world and what they typically eat in a week has come to a close. (Several years ago I wrote about this unit, one of my favorites, on my blog.) Our discussion of food is not over, however. We will soon begin working with an animated short about a man that adopts a homeless dog, and the two friends affect each other’s world view and help each other through some tough times.
Students are increasingly being held to a higher expectation of using French in the classroom, and I will focus on supplying them with the words and phrases that will help them stay in French during our class activities.

As some of you may have heard me say at Curriculum Night earlier this week, it has been a lot of fun to reconnect with these students after a year away from them! Our year has started with conversations about food likes and dislikes, which will lead us into our first "Picture Talk" of the year, based on the photos in the book Hungry Planet. (You can read about this unit on my blog here.)
Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns, and I look forward to updating you on our activities as the year progresses!
