LES INFOS

YOU CAN FIND VIDEOS AND LYRICS OF THE SONGS WE SING HERE!

Our activities over the past few weeks continue to be rooted in body parts. We added two new songs to our reparatory, and had a lot of fun with Monsieur Patate with a plethora of different projects, many of which had is laughing a lot!  We will finish up the year with a sneak peak of some characters that will serve as the basis for our work in first grade.

We have been very busy in kindergarten French recently. Our songs, activities, and videos have a common theme: body parts! We performed the song Savez-vous planter les choux? at our French rep today. Once again we saw Pocoyo in action; his silly antics playing cache-cache put him derrière un cactus, dans les fleurs, et dans la mer!

Pocoyo has returned to our classes, competing in a race with Elly and, unknowingly, Dodoloiseau. It's a tortoise-and-hare situation, where the slow and steady Dodoloiseau comes in first. Pocoyo and Elly have to work together in order to solve a vehicular problem. Modes of transportation have been the focus of our class discussions; we had a fun day in the multi pitting different vehicles against each other, predicting which would win, and how far they would go. Lots of fun French flying in kindergarten!

Kindergarteners have become fully immersed in French during our quick sessions, and they are beginning to make jokes and play with the language. We watched a touching video about a boy and his penguin friend who's looking for love. Our vocabulary has expanded to fruits and now modes of transportation. Students will be singing the chorus of Les Cloches de Norwich for the holiday concert.

Students' skills are progressing quickly in kindergarten French. We have now illustrated two books; in the second, we drew pictures of Pocoyo receiving help from his friends in order to jump rope. We are practicing our song for the Halloween rep, and will soon add another song to our repertoire as we expand our vocabulary to include some of our favorite fruits.

Our adventures continue to grow on a daily basis. We have met our new friend Pocoyo, and all of his companions, and will soon find out how he does with his attempts to jump-rope. Students have done a lot of coloring work to practice not only our colors but our emotion and animal vocabulary. The illustrations in the books of our first story are complete, and as we read them in class, they will begin to make their way home. Our newest song recounts the tale of a poor bunny seeking solace in the house of his friend, the deer. You can find videos of that song here, and you can also find Maîtresse's silly version of the song here!

We are off to a roaring start in kindergarten French this year! From day one, students were exposed to only French in the classroom. We used lots of cognates and stuffies to help us learn animals, sizes, and activities. We have added colors and numbers, and some phrases to allow us to create simple sentences. Some of our songs include Tête, épaules, genoux, pieds and Petit escargot (see video below).  We have also created our first story and there will be a book coming home soon telling that story!
